To be successful with courageous conversations, you need to have more of a desire for valid information rather than having things your way and others agreeing with you or in keeping things comfortable in the conversation.
If we are able to generate more valid information, then both you and the person you are speaking with can make more informed choices. If a person has more awareness about the impact their behavior is having on the organization or team, they are in a position to make better choices about what they do differently.
Better choices will generate a higher level of internal commitment to those choices and the plan moving forward which in turn leads to long term commitment rather than short term compliance.
